The Alijadores de Tampico (Tampico Lightermen) were a professional baseball team from Tampico, Tamaulipas that played in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (Mexican Baseball League). In the 1940s, they were an excellent team and won titles in 1945 and 1946. However, the team was not very profitable and from 1949 through 1970, the team was not a part of the league. In 1971, the league reinstated the team. In 1975, the team won the Mexican league championship. After 1979, Tampico was once again removed from the league. However, in 1983 the team once again returned and was renamed the "Astros." After 1985, the team was removed again from the league. Since 1985, this former Mexican League city has not been home to any Liga team.
